Irrigation efficiency is the central topic. Water Conservation is the goal, but just as important is the objective of lowering water bills for consumers. That is accomplished through proper setting of the irrigation controller which is aided by manual operation, use of sensors and phone apps to advise the customer of current irrigation needs.

Florida Friendly Landscaping (tm) Pattern Book
For those that are not content with a yard dominated by turfgrass that they can't seem to keep growing lushly and vigorously, there are alternatives that require less maintenance. However, being anything but a monoculture, plant selection and placement are critical as is suggested by the first rule of Florida Friendly Landscaping; Right Plant, Right Place. For those of us that aren't intuitive landscape designers and cannot contemplate spending big bucks for a professional design, here is a FREE guide for Pasco County residents in hardiness zone 9A. The guide includes various styles of design with specific plant suggestions for particular areas in the landscape such as Front Entries, Patios, Sidewalks and Walkways, Under Windows, Along Walls and Property Lines. Not only does it include general characteristics for plants in those areas, there are also plant lists with choices for both sun and shade conditions.
